Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based talking therapy recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

CBT can help with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks and panic disorder
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
  • Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Specific phobias
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Anger and difficulties managing emotions
  • The emotional and psychological impact of the menopause, including anxiety, low mood, stress, and reduced confidence

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocess

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychological therapy that helps people process and recover from traumatic or distressing experiences.

EMDR is often used to treat the effects of experiences such as road traffic accidents, workplace accidents, childhood trauma, abuse, medical trauma, bereavement, and other distressing life events that continue to affect your wellbeing.

EMDR is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for the treatment of Post-traumatic stress disorder.

Research also suggests that EMDR may be helpful for a range of other difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Distressing memories and adverse life experiences

EMDR works by helping the brain reprocess difficult memories so they become less distressing and no longer have the same emotional impact. Many people find that, over time, they are able to think about past experiences without feeling overwhelmed, allowing them to move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

Parenting Support

As a trained facilitator of parenting programmes, including the The Incredible Years programme, I support parents in understanding their child's behaviour and developing practical strategies to manage everyday challenges. By working together, we can strengthen parent-child relationships, build confidence in parenting, and encourage positive changes that benefit the whole family.

Menopause

The menopause is a time of significant physical and emotional change, which can affect many aspects of daily life. Symptoms such as anxiety, low mood, poor sleep, reduced confidence, and difficulty concentrating can have a real impact on your wellbeing and quality of life.

Therapy can provide a supportive space to understand these changes and develop practical ways of managing them. Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), we can explore helpful coping strategies, address unhelpful thought patterns, manage anxiety and low mood, and build resilience, helping you feel more confident and better able to navigate this stage of life.
